Virgil Heinz,

Virgil Heinz, 79, Alexandria,
died Monday, Aug. 8, 1994, at
Queen of Peace
Hospital in
Mitchell.

Funeral services
will be held
at 10:30 am. today
 at St. Mary
of Mercy Catholic
 Church in
A1exandria .
Burial will be in
the church cemetery.
The Will-Montgomery
Funeral Chapel is in charge of
arrangements.

Mr. Heinz was born Aug. 14,
1914, in Davison County, the son
of Valentine and Mae (Crampton)
 Heinz. He attended Notre
Dame High School and grad-
uated from Ethan High School.
On Jan. 20, 1943, he married Dorothy
 Majerus in Alexandria.
They farmed in the Ethan area
and moved to Hanson County in
1945, where he continued farming
and was in the dairy business.

Mr. Heinz was active in farm
cooperatives. He helped organize
the Farmers Union Oil Co.,
where he served on the board of
directors and acted as secretary
for 30 years. He was director and
president for Milk Producers associations,
the James Valley
Milk Producers and Land-O-Lakes.
He served as director and
president of the board of the Intercounty
Electric Association
for 21 years and also on the
Board of Directors for the Minnesota
Valley Breeders Association
and Farmers Mutual Fire
and Lightning Insurance Co. of
Hanson County. He helped organize
the Hanson Rural Water
System.

He was a member of St. Mary
of Mercy Catholic Church and
the Fraternal Order of Elks.

Survivors include: his wife;
three sons: Jim and wife, Lyn
Heinz, Webster Groves, M0,;
John and wife, Linda Heinz,
Alexandria; and Joe and wife,
Gail Heinz, Mitchell; two daughters:
Susan and husband, Wally
Ahrendt, Sioux Falls; Ann and
husband, P.J. Connors, Eden
Valley, Minn.; one brother, Quintin
Heinz, Sac City, Iowa; three
sisters: Beatrice Kayser, New
Brighton, Minn; Genevieve Currier,
Menlo Park, Calif.; and
Mary Winn, Marshall, Minn; 13
grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by
two sisters and one brother.

A memorial fund is being established.
