Elmer Heck, son of Henry and Margaret (Weber)

Heck, Was born April 5,1920 in Ethan, SD. The
oldest of six children, he quit school in the 6th grade to
go to work after his father passed.

He entered the US Army on February 13, 1942 and
Served during World War II. Elmer was honorably
discharged on September 30, 1945 and returned to South
Dakota. Elmer was united in marriage with Lois Schorg
on January 14, 1947 in Mitchell, SD. The couple were
married for 70 years.

Elmer worked as a driver and saleman for Pan 0’ Gold
and Metz Bakery until his retirement. He enjoyed being
With his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also
enjoyed playing Yahtzee and pinochle and also fishing.

Elmer was known for his contagious smile and loving
heart.

Grateful for having shared his life are his two children,
Sue (Myron) Vander Heiden, Mitchell, SD and Sharon
Freeman; five grandchildren, Chad (Jennifer) Vickers,
Wade (Liz) Vickers, Andi (Dan) DeMaranville,
Kimberly (Jim) Sebert and Kaye Vander Heiden.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; a daughter,
Sharon Freeman; his parents and five siblings.
