Ronnie Sommer one of my uncles.
One of those strange relationships. He is my father's first cousin (making him an uncle once removed), but married my mother's sister Anita Weber.
Born 9/7/1937 in Parkston, South Dakota.
Died 6/12/2011 in Mitchell, South Dakota

Ronald Charles Sommer was born
September 7, 1937 at Parkston to
Henry and Josephine (Schmidt) Sommer.
He grew up and attended school
at Parkston where he graduated from
high school. On October 3, 1959 he
married Anita Weber at Dimock. He
served four years, 1958-1962 in the
US Navy and was stationed in San
Diego and Oakland, California. They
returned to Mitchell where he worked at United Building Center
and was also involved in building construction doing concrete
and brick work. In 1964 Ron started working at the post
office where he was a rural postal carrier until retiring in
1993. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church
where he served on the board, a member of the Knights of
Columbus, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, the National
Association of Retired Federal Employees and he was a volunteer
for the Salvation Army, Avera Queen of Peace Hospital
and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

He is survived by his wife, Anita (Weber), sons: Curtis (Joy) Sommer,
West Linn, OR; Cory (Stephanie) Sommer, St. Michael, MN;
daughters: Dawn Sommer (and friend, Mark Loneman) Sioux
Falls; Gail (Mark) Hanson, Aberdeen; sister, Phyllis Stadlman
and brother, James (Joan) Sommer, Parkston and five grand-
children: Spencer and Trevor Hanson, Vivian and Alaina
Sommer and Jake Kent. He was preceded in death by his par-
ents and a sister, Lorraine Fischer.

Memorials may be directed to the
American Cancer Society or AseraCare Hospice.
